The notion that helping local communities helps wildlife conservation is by now well established. But it has taken significant determination and belief, and no shortage of trust on both sides, to see successful outcomes. Here we celebrate a number of individuals and organisations that have preservered, in often difficult circumstances, to convince local communities of the benefit of wildlife and who have seen that vision through to its ultimate goal - the protection of wildlife habitat for the benefit of all.
